FAQ's

You mentioned something about a day of service. What will that look like?

Our vision is not only to share the Good News of Jesus Christ through our words but to live it out through our lives. You'll have an opportunity to serve thousands of people in Mexico City through your gifts, hard work, and compassion. Here are a few of the options:

  • Visit an orphanage
  • Help single mothers
  • Work with some young boys brought in off the street
  • Take care of the desperately poor
  • Minister in the zócalo (historic center)

What do I have to pay in order to come down?

You only have to pay $75.50 through our registration process. It's that easy. All other fees you pay as they come your way.

Can I share a room with my friends?

Absolutely! You get to choose your own roommates when you check-in at the hotel. We don't assign them to you.

Can I raise support to go to Mexico City? How does that work?

We encourage you to raise support to come down. People will want to partner with you financially and prayerfully to help launch movements in one of the world's most influential cities. You can use our materials to help raise your funds. If you have Campus Crusade staff on your campus, they can help you by collecting the money in one account and reimbursing your expenses. Or you could have people write checks to your church, and your church could write you a final check to cover your expenses. Mexico Focus will NOT deal with any of your money while you're in the country. Make sure you have what you need before you come.

How do I buy my plane tickets?

If you're coming in a large group, you can try to book the same flight by contacting Greg Angstrom (our travel agent) and inquiring about purchasing in bulk. He is eager to help! Otherwise, you can simply search for the best deal online for the Saturday of your departure.

I don't have Campus Crusade staff on my campus. Can I still come?

Please do! We want anyone who has a desire to share the Good News of Jesus Christ to join us here in Mexico City.

Will you give us money while we're there to spend on food or other expenses?

You'll be responsible for all expenses that come your way while in Mexico City. We have made it inexpensive to register ($75.50) and have given you a liberal estimation of what you'll spend during your stay here. You may raise money to cover all of your costs while in the country, but either you or your campus staff will deal with all of your expenses. So make sure you have access to money through credit card, debit card (there are lots of ATM's here), or cash.

What does my $75.50 registration fee go toward?

We want to show up on campus with some great outreach materials that will help students encounter the true Jesus Christ. Your registration fee goes directly toward these materials, as well as to cover emergency supplemental insurance.

Would you recommend contacting your travel company (BCD Travel) about flights or just trying to find a flight on my own?

If you're planning on coming as a large group, we recommend asking Greg Angstrom and BCD Travel to check on flights for you. They hace accounts with many large airlines to help book blocks of seats. I would also check the prices of individual bookings yourself too. If you're traveling with just a few other people, you can probably find the best deal yourself through internet searches.

How do I reserve my hotel room?

Once you register for your spring break trip through our registration site, we will make sure you have a room reserved. You do not need to do anything directly with Casa González until you show up at the hotel in Mexico City. At the end of your week, you will pay the hotel directly for the cost of your room (according to our negotiated discount).

Should I bring cash to pay for the hotel, or can I pay with credit card?

You can pay with cash or credit card at the hotel. There are ATM's available nearby as well.

What if I don't have 4 people in my room?

The negotiated hotel room cost is $25 per night per person, with breakfast included. This cost per person is the same for singles and marrieds.

Can I wear shorts in Mexico?

It's going to be pretty warm during your time in Mexico. We ask you to wear jeans on campus, since every Mexican does, but you are free to wear shorts any other time.

Would it be alright if I came down on Sunday rather than Saturday?

We ask you to arrive on Saturday so we can greet you at the airport and you can rest before your weeks starts on Sunday. Our training begins Sunday morning followed by some cultural events that we'd hate for you to miss. However, if you absolutely must come on Sunday, you may do so. We just ask that you notify us of your intentions before purchasing your flight. We have provided written directions for taking a taxi from the airport to the hotel, as we cannot commit to meeting you at the airport on Sunday.

Who do I need to give my flight information to?

Once you have reserved a flight to Mexico City, please email your airline, flight number, and arrival time to (coming soon).

I'm coming for multiple weeks. Do I need to register for all of them?

Yes! You need to register for every week that you're planning on staying with us in Mexico City. However, you only need to pay your $75.50 registration fee for the first week you come, and 25.50 for every week after that!

Can I see what other schools are coming?

We will try to post a list of participating schools as soon as we can.

What will the schedule look like for the week?

You can view the schedule for the week here.
